Bilingual Driver License Skill Test Examiner

Job description:

The Office of the Seminole County Tax Collector is seeking to fill a English / Spanish Bilingual Part-Time DL Skill Test Examiner position.

The function of our DL Skill Test Examiner is to administer physical driving license road testing to knowledge qualified applicants on driving range at Casselberry Branch Office and process other front counter customer transactions in which trained.

What does a DL Skill Test Examiner do?
  • Makes sure the Florida state skills driving test is properly administered.
  • Checks for specialized vehicle equipment that requires a restriction on the driver license and notes same on record.
  • Physically drives with customers being tested to determine their driving skill level and records observations.
  • Concentrates on their demonstrated driving skill and is able to discuss the driving test with them when the test is completed.  
  • Advise failed test results to applicant when necessary and coach on areas of driving in need of correction.
  • Assists at Branch Office front counter to process other transaction services provided by the office of the Seminole County Tax Collector as time permits.
  • Calculates and completes proper report forms as appropriate.
  • Assists in maintaining all physical areas inside and outside of the Branch office, driving course, and parking lot areas in a neat, clean, efficient manner.

The start rate for all fully-trained Part-Time DL Skill Test Examiner positions is $13.75 per hour. An annual review is utilized to measure performance and to evaluate achievement. An hourly increase, if any, is merit based and typically awarded annually. 

All Part Time DL Skill Test Examiners will work an average of 20 to 25 hours per week without a lunch period. All schedules will be unique to each Part Time employee.

Minimum Skills & Requirements:
  • High school diploma. College course credits are an asset.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Keyboarding/data entry skills at least 40 wpm.
  • Knowledge of basic math principles and business English.
  • The ability to speak Spanish fluently is required for this position.

General Requirements

There are basic requirements of education and/or experience that you must have to apply for employment. In addition, there are desired skills that are not required, but will be considered with your application in gaining employment with our office. These are as follows:

  • High school diploma. College course credits are an asset.
  • The ability to use standard office equipment (such as a typewriter, computer, calculator).
  • Keyboarding/data entry skills at least 40 wpm.
  • Knowledge of basic math principles and business English.
  • Experience working with the public is a plus.

Additional Considerations
  • Must be capable of being bonded and becoming a Notary Public.
  • Experience in handling cash and check transactions is a plus.
  • Successfully be cleared through a Criminal Record Check.
  • Successfully pass a drug test.
